Position: Engineer 1

Department: General Services

Role Overview: Reporting to the Chief Engineer and the Director, Engineering Operations & Facilities, this position will be responsible for maintaining various aspects of the HVAC, plumbing and sprinkler operations for the Lincoln Center 16-acre campus which is comprised of a variety of multi-use buildings, performance spaces, public areas, and the Central Mechanical Plant (CMP).

Lincoln Center is a 24x7 operation. The Engineer role is a full-time (40 hours per week) union-represented position (Local 30) with the potential of additional overtime work. Employees are required to join the Local 30 union within 30 days of employment, if they are not already members.

The Engineer may cross-train on different posts and in different venues across campus and may work overtime hours as needed.

Please note: this is NOT a supervisory role.

Qualifications:

  • A current refrigeration license is required for this position.
  • Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of practical, hands-on work experience (not including time as an apprentice) maintaining and/or working with the following:
    • Pneumatic, electric, electronic and direct digital controls
    • Electric and steam centrifugal chillers
    • Steam and condensate systems
    • Refrigeration equipment
    • Domestic hot water heating systems
    • Plumbing and electrical work
    • Hydronic pumping systems
    • Fire alarm, sprinkler systems and standpipes
    • Soldering/brazing
    • Hands-on mechanical work experience including motor replacements
  • Must have basic computer skills, ability to answer emails, etc
  • Able to effectively communicate with management and other constituent organizations on our campus

Additional Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have experience working in a variety of complex facilities (including commercial space, power plants), systems, and equipment of all ages.
  • Preferred candidates will also have significant knowledge of various HVAC systems and types and building management controls (BMC) experience.
  • EAP/FSD certification is helpful, although not required.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to obtain all certificates or licenses as required by Federal, State or Local codes.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use the following:
    • hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
    • occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods of time
    • climb ladders to conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs
    • must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Current available shift is:

  • Monday: Off
  • Tuesday: Off
  • Wednesday: 10:30pm - 6:30am
  • Thursday: 10:30pm - 6:30am
  • Friday: 2:30pm - 10:30pm
  • Saturday: 2:30pm - 10:30pm
  • Sunday: 6:30am - 2:30pm
